About Myself

(being Timothy James Little)

About myself. I guess the purpose of a ‘home page’ is to provide information about yourself. Rather egocentric but I will indulge myself. For a more professional summary look at my CV.

The facts,

But that’s boring. You want details. Who am I really, what sort of person am I, what do I look like, what do I like doing, where did I go, where am I now?
Who am I really?
Ah, the perennial question. I don’t know. I think Popeye best sums it up with "I am who I am"
What sort of person am I?

I think of myself as a moderately shy, moderately self confident, lazy, quiet, hardworking, gentle, clumsy, forthright, short, fat, hairy man.  Other people say different things. I did one those ‘online personality test’ (Kiersley, com). It described me as a Rational/Architect(iNTp). Apparently I like to probe until I understand things, but am not terribly sociable. Oh well.
What do I look like?
Good question. I have a few photos of me here. In summary I am a shortish (5’8’’/172cm) bloke with few if any distinguishing features. Rather dull to look at really.
What do I like doing?
Drinking and reading are my two most favourite things. I adore books and my ambition is to own a bookshop/bar.
Other things I enjoy include writing, travelling (see below), and arguing, not always in combination.
Where did I go?

I assume you are asking about where I went when I travelled (after working). In January 1996 I left the UK and travelled to the USA. I spent 3 months there. I worked my notice out in our Connecticut office and then spent 6 weeks on a greyhound bus travelling from New York to LA via Washington DC, New Orleans, San Antonio (remember the Alamo?), Tuscan Arizona, Flagstaff Arizona, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. I had a great time. Then I flew to the most beautiful country on the planet. New Zealand is breath taking. Sadly I only had four weeks there but managed to see both islands (quickly) and to bungy jump in Queenstown (skipper’s canyon - 71m). I had the pleasure of returning to New Zealand in Jan 1997 with my Mother and touring in a hire car (which I wrote off in an accident).
Finally I ended up in Australia. I have scuba dived on the great barrier reef, slept in a swag next to Ayer’s rock and free fall parachute jumped near Melbourne (I missed the drop zone by 5km). I lived in Melbourne, Australia for two and a half years and loved it.
I moved to Hong Kong in September 1998 but have spent more than half my time since then in Sydney, due to work. On May 17th I quit again and hit the road again. This time my itinerary was an overland trip from Singapore to the UK. I was going home, but I went slowly. During four months I visited Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, China, Mongolia, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands and then home. For more information please see my trip diary.
Where am I now?
I’m back in London, where I started from. I've got a job, at the moment I work for HSBC out in Canary Wharf.   Life is back to normal, but I dream of my next trip.

Maybe Alaska to Tierra del Fuego.
So, there you go, that’s me. A bit indulgent I know, but that’s ok. Any comments or suggestions please email me.
