Sextet V

butterfly quarry

oh cherished creature
calm yourself
stop fluttering your lovely wings
against the twine
you are mine now
and i want you
whole and undefiled

how long have i sought you
certain of how perfectly wonderful
you will look
mounted and framed

and now that i have you
what a travesty it would be
if you damaged your jewelled wings
in your futile struggle
to stay alive
crystal methodology

flush the crankcase cache
crystal methodology
bends the very air

the sea

always calling
come to me
go with me
abide in me

thereby binding
tragically
all who heed
to destiny

the sea
a powerful amazon warrior
with a siren's voice

recognition

what perfect rapture
when the twinkly sparkly wonder
that lives inside your eyes
comes out to play
and sing and dance
with all that's mine

his love and hers 2

his love is a mountain
its peak perennially obscured by clouds
its center ashen and sheer
its base a forest bursting with rivers and streams
that often overflow when the rains come

hers is a garden
verdant but strictly tended
in neat weedless rows
with every lovingly maintained plant
restrained to its designated place
and every flower precisely timed to bloom
when the rain begins to fall

new worms 1

slithering through loam
still unaware that such things
as birds may exist
