Proof That Jesus
is the True Jewish Messiah:
Individual experiences, family preference, culture, and nationality
have a great influence on the religious choice of anyone who has never
considered how many gods there are in this world, and that the true God
must want us to worship Him in Spirit and TRUTH. We should never let family,
cultural or national interests transcend our search for the true God who
has given us our very life and being. He has declared this in Scripture.
He has also said that this short life is only a testing period for our
next life which shall last for eternity:
And you will seek Me and find [Me], when you search for Me with all
your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13 NKJV)
23 "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers
will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking
such to worship Him. 24 "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must
worship in spirit and truth." (John 4:23-24 NKJV)
"He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does
not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on
him." (John 3:36 NKJV)
Just a few predictions about the Messiah that Jesus
Christ fulfilled: (Remember that the Old Testament was completed
about 400 years before the birth of Christ, and the Septuagint was used
about 200 years prior to His birth)
He would be from the tribe of Judah: The scepter shall not
depart from Judah, Nor a lawgiver from between his feet, Until Shiloh (Messiah)comes;
And to Him [shall be] the obedience of the people. (Genesis 49:10 NKJV)
The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the
Son of Abraham: Abraham begot Isaac, Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot
Judah and his brothers . . . And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary,
of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ. (Matthew 1:1-2&16 NKJV)
He would be a descendant of David: "Behold, [the] days are coming,"
says the LORD, "That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A
King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in
the earth. (Jeremiah 23:5 NKJV)
22 "And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as
king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, `I have found David the
[son] of Jesse, a man after My [own] heart, who will do all My will.' 23
"From this man's seed, according to [the] promise, God raised up for Israel
a Savior----Jesus---- (Acts 13:22-23 NKJV)
He would be born in Bethlehem: "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
[Though] you are little among the thousands of Judah, [Yet] out of you
shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth
[are] from of old, From everlasting." (Micah 5:2 NKJV)
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod
the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, (Matthew 2:1
NKJV)
He was to be born of a Virgin: "Therefore the Lord Himself will
give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and
shall call His name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14 NKJV)
18 ¶ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His
mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was
found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being
a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded
to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold,
an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of
David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is
conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 "And she will bring forth a
Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from
their sins." 22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was
spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 "Behold, the virgin
shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,"
which is translated, "God with us." (Matthew 1:18-23 NKJV)
His birth and death were at a predicted time: 24 "Seventy weeks
(or
"seventy sevens of years"-490 ancient 360 day years) are determined
For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To
make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting
righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy.
25 "Know therefore and understand, [That] from the going forth of the command
(by Artaxerxes in 445 B.C.)To restore and build Jerusalem
Until Messiah the Prince, [There shall be] seven weeks and sixty-two weeks(483
years from the "command" to His offering Himself as Messiah at age 33);
The street shall be built again, and the wall, Even in troublesome times.
26 "And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for
Himself; And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the
city and the sanctuary. The end of it [shall be] with a flood, And till
the end of the war desolations are determined. (Daniel 9:24-26 NKJV)
1 ¶ And it came to pass in those days [that] a decree went
out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This
census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. 3 So all went
to be registered, everyone to his own city. 4 Joseph also went up from
Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David,
which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,
5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6
So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her
to be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped
Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no
room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:1-7 NKJV)
He would be preceeded by a messenger: The voice of one crying
in the wilderness: "Prepare the way of the LORD; Make straight in the desert
A highway for our God. (Isaiah 40:3 NKJV)
In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness
of Judea, 2 and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!"
3 For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: "The
voice of one crying in the wilderness: `Prepare the way of the LORD; Make
His paths straight.'" (Matthew 3:1-3 NKJV)
He was to be a prophet like Moses: 18 `I will raise up for them
a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in
His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. 19 `And it
shall be [that] whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name,
I will require [it] of him. (Deuteronomy 18:18-19 NKJV)
20 "and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you
before, 21 "whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of
all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets
since the world began. 22 "For Moses truly said to the fathers, `The LORD
your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him
you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. 23 `And it shall
be [that] every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed
from among the people.' 24 "Yes, and all the prophets, from Samuel and
those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days.
(Acts 3:20-24 NKJV)
He was to enter Jerusalem on a colt as a King: "Rejoice greatly,
O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is
coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding
on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey. (Zechariah 9:9 NKJV)
12 ¶ The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast,
when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 took branches of
palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: "Hosanna! `Blessed
is
He who comes in the name of the LORD!' The King of Israel!" 14 Then Jesus,
when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written: 15 "Fear
not, daughter of Zion; Behold, your King is coming, Sitting on a donkey's
colt." 16 His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when
Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written
about Him and that they had done these things to Him. (John 12:12-16
NKJV)
He would teach by parables: 1 ¶ Give ear, O my people, to
my law; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. 2 I will open my mouth
in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old, (Psalms 78:1-2 NKJV)
34 All these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and
without a parable He did not speak to them, 35 that it might be fulfilled
which was spoken by the prophet, saying: "I will open My mouth in parables;
I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world." (Matthew
13:34-35 NKJV)
His ministry was to be characterized by miracles: 18 In that
day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, And the eyes of the blind
shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness. 19 The humble also shall
increase their joy in the LORD, And the poor among men shall rejoice
In the Holy One of Israel. (Isaiah 29:18-19 NKJV)
2 And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ,
he sent two of his disciples 3 and said to Him, "Are You the Coming One,
or do we look for another?" 4 Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and
tell John the things which you hear and see: 5 "The blind see and
the
lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the
dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
6 "And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me." (Matthew 11:2-6
NKJV)
He shall be a "stone of stumbling" and a "rock of offense" to Israel:
13 The LORD of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him be your
fear, And let Him be your dread. 14 He will be as a sanctuary,
But a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense To both the houses of Israel,
As a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 And many among
them shall stumble; They shall fall and be broken, Be snared and taken."
(Isaiah 8:13-15 NKJV) 21 I will praise You, For You have answered me, And
have become my salvation. 22 The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone. 23 This was the LORD'S doing; It is
marvelous in our eyes. (Psalms 118:21-23 NKJV)
6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, "Behold, I lay
in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him
will by no means be put to shame." 7 Therefore, to you who believe, He
is precious; but to those who are disobedient, "The stone which the
builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone," 8 and "A stone of
stumbling And a rock of offense." They stumble, being disobedient to the
word, to which they also were appointed. (1 Peter 2:6-8 NKJV)
He would be betrayed by a friend: 9 Even my own familiar friend
in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against
me. 10 But You, O LORD, be merciful to me, and raise me up, That I may
repay them. 11 By this I know that You are well pleased with me, Because
my enemy does not triumph over me. 12 As for me, You uphold me in my integrity,
And set me before Your face forever. (Psalms 41:9-12 NKJV)
47 ¶ And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of
the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the
chief priests and elders of the people. 48 Now His betrayer had given them
a sign, saying, "Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him." 49 Immediately
he went up to Jesus and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed Him. 50 But
Jesus said to him, "Friend, why have you come?" Then they came and laid
hands on Jesus and took Him. 51 And suddenly, one of those who were
with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the
servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. 52 But Jesus said to him,
"Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by
the sword. 53 "Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and
He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? 54 "How then
could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?" (Matthew
26:47-54 NKJV)
He would be sold for 30 pieces of silver which would be thrown into
the temple and used to buy a potter's field: 12 Then I said to them,
"If it is agreeable to you, give me my wages; and if not, refrain."
So they weighed out for my wages thirty pieces of silver. 13 And
the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter" --that princely price they
set on me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them
into the house of the LORD for the potter. (Zechariah 11:12-13 NKJV)
3 Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned,
was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief
priests and elders, 4 saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood."
And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!" 5 Then
he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went
and hanged himself. 6 But the chief priests took the silver pieces and
said, "It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are
the price of blood." 7 And they consulted together and bought with them
the potter's field, to bury strangers in. (Matthew 27:3-7 NKJV)
His hands and feet would be pierced: For dogs have surrounded
Me; The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands
and My feet; (Psalms 22:16 NKJV) "And I will pour on the house of David
and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication;
then they will look on Me whom they pierced (when He comes again).
Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son,
and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. (Zechariah 12:10 NKJV)
And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they
crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on
the left. (Luke 23:33 NKJV)
He would be crucified with theives and make intercession for them:
Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide
the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And
He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And
made intercession for the transgressors. (Isaiah 53:12 NKJV)
26 And the inscription of His accusation was written above: THE
KING OF THE JEWS. 27 With Him they also crucified two robbers, one on His
right and the other on His left. 28 So the Scripture was fulfilled which
says, "And He was numbered with the transgressors." (Mark 15:26-28 NKJV)
His body was not to see corruption: 9 Therefore my heart is glad,
and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. 10 For You will
not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness
of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalms 16:9-11
NKJV)
29 "Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you
of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is
with us to this day. 30 "Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God
had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according
to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, 31 "he,
foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that
His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. 32 "This
Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. 33 "Therefore being
exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the
promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
(Acts 2:29-33 NKJV)
He was to be raised from the dead to ascend to the right hand of God:
"I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, `You are My
Son, Today I have begotten You. (Psalms 2:7 NKJV) For You will not leave
my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. (Psalms
16:10 NKJV) The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make
Your enemies Your footstool." (Psalms 110:1 NKJV)
29 "Now when they had fulfilled all that was written concerning
Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb.
30 "But God raised Him from the dead. 31 "He was seen for many days by
those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses
to the people. 32 "And we declare to you glad tidings----that promise which
was made to the fathers. 33 "God has fulfilled this for us their children,
in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm:
`You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.' (Acts 13:29-33 NKJV) Who being
the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person,
and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself
purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, (Hebrews
1:3 NKJV)
When reading about His crucifixion in the New Testament, one quickly
sees that Isaiah Chapter 53 predicted His crucifixion 700 years before
the fulfillment:
1 ¶ Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of
the LORD been revealed? 2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,
And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when
we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. 3 He is
despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and
we did not esteem Him. 4 ¶ Surely He has borne our griefs And carried
our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised
for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him
the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He
opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep
before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. 8 He was taken
from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For
He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My
people He was stricken. 9 And they made His grave with the wicked--But
with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was
any deceit in His mouth. 10 ¶ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise
Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering
for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,
And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. 11 He shall see
the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous
Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore
I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil
with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was
numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made
intercession for the transgressors. (Isaiah 53:1-12 NKJV)
