Learning Love Out Of Time
The poet who made us
Verses in his rhyme
Forgot to keep us
In each other's time.
You, shifted forward,
Me, shifted back.
Just enough to believe it,
To know what we lack.
You roamed and drifted
To distant shores.
I clung to old hopes
The promise of more.
New chance
Old hope
I clung to old hopes
You wandered and learned,
Your youthful wisdom,
No downfall discerned.
Teach me wise child
What knowledge you bear:
That love isn't reason
Just feel it. It's there.
The heart that I mourned,
No death-knell sounded.
It's there. It beats
Full of love, well-founded.
It's time to grow.
You will, so will I.
You, in your world
Me, in mine.
We touched a brief moment.
No. No dimension described.
In the world of the heart
There's no tangle of time.
