Nostalgia
This is a page for people who grew up fed on 80s TV. I was born in 1978
and have spent my childhood in England, however most of the programs I
used to watch were American, and so hopefully this page will make sense
to people from both side of the pond, and elsewhere. Its amazing that somewhere
on the net there is a probably a huge and lovingly crafted site dedicated
to that random program which you used to watch at 8 am on Sunday mornings
as a 7 year old, and a community of Generation Xers, all with equally fuzzy
and rose tinted memories, longing to discuss that strangely unifying shared
experience. Where previous generations grew up exploring the woods, playing
cowboys and indians and painting toy soldiers (+the female equivalents)
we watched TV. I don't want to pass a value judgement on our collective
childhoods, and though I can understand why some people might say we were
wasting our time, I do not wholly agree. The fact of the matter is that
we did what we did, it gave us pleasure and it tickled our imaginations
- how great it is now to be able to reminisce, recall the carefree days
of our youth, and through that draw closer to one another!
Click the icon to hear the theme tune, or the program name to go the
website. The theme tunes mainly come from www.soundamerica.com. I've put
a * next to my personal favourites. Please let me know if there is anything
missing, if you know of better website for me to link to, or if you would
just like to reminise a bit with me! Not all these programs were first
shown in the 80s, but they were all the bread and water of my childhood.
