The Archdiocesan Communications Center (A.C.C.) is the Center for Media Education, Media Consultancy and Media Service in the Archdiocese of Bangalore, India. This Center has been doing a tremendous service in the field of communications for the past couple of years by actively involving itself in media awareness, production and service, and also utilizing the availability of the secular media such as Press, Radio, and T.V. for the dissemination of Christian, social and ethical values to children, youth and religious.

The Center was inaugurated by Most Rev. Dr. Alphonsus Mathias, the Archbishop of Bangalore, on 1st August 1994. His Grace, who as a Patron of A.C.C., supports, guides and encourages all it’s activities.

Media Literacy

Being conscious of the tremendous impact of the media, the A.C.C. started conducting classes and seminars for different groups in the Archdiocese and in other parts of Karnataka. So far, we have conducted thirty such seminars and the results were very encouraging and rewarding!

We use audio visual aids in our teaching and lecture sessions. These seminars were conducted at different locations in and around Bangalore, India. The A.C.C. has a well trained and dedicated team to conduct these study sessions.

Media Consultancy

Today, the market is flooded with audio visual materials, and the commercial firms are thriving on selling and producing sub-standard materials. Being aware of how the customers and producers are not serviced to their needs and satisfaction, the A.C.C. has taken as its mission to help them out. Institutions and individuals are guided to make the right choice of the equipment, and to maintain it. Perhaps, no Christian Communication Center in India is doing such a service! To help our clients , the A.C.C. makes the following source material available to them:

• Publication of Souvenirs, Brochures and Books.
• Production of Audio-Cassettes - knowledge about the studio facilities, recording qualities, art work, inlay cards, duplication, marketing, etc.
• Video production either on VHS/U-Matic/Beta-cam formats, availability of equipment, visual mixing, audio dubbing, duplication, cover design etc.
• Production of slides and transparencies for any presentation or lectures.

Media Service

* The A.C.C. is building up good Audio and Video libraries on different topics, people are encouraged to check out these cassettes by becoming either life or ordinary members.

* Presently, the A.C.C. does not have the facility of a Book library. However, it is planning to start one in the near future.

Our Achievements

• We have produced a few programs for the local television network (Bangalore Doordarshan Kendra), besides the usual Christmas and Easter Messages. * A number of talks on Chintana (Thought for the day) , Christmas, Good Friday, Easter Messages were also given on A.I.R. (All India Radio) Bangalore.
• We use Commercial Broadcasting System for Evangelization.
• Through the recommendation of the A.C.C team., six groups are singing regularly devotional songs on A.I.R, Bangalore.
• Five parishes were helped to do the Church Tower Broadcast everyday.
• Production of a number of audio cassettes (talks and music) and particularly a set of ten audio cassettes on the Bible in Newscasts Format.
• We have published six booklets related to media and Church Documents.
• Media seminars/courses for different groups are conducted regularly.
• A.C.C. collaborates with other Centers in media work.
• Eight video cassettes related to religious, social and educational themes were released.

• We could also put you in touch with any of the reputed communication centers in India and abroad for your Media requirements.

A.C.C.'S Future Plans

• Publication of books in different languages on religion and media.
• Make ahead way in audio and video productions.
• Try to make in-roads into the secular media such as Press, Radio and T.V.
• Organize study sessions mostly for rural parishes in theology, liturgy and evangelization.
• Co-ordinate the media activities in the Archdiocese by involving people, Institutions and Centers having a common vision.
• Conduct competitions for children and youth to motivate them to adhere to Christian and human values in their everyday life.
• Reach out to the remotest parishes in the Archdiocese by decentralising our activities in three areas, namely in surrounding areas of Bangalore (Tumkur, Kolar and K.G.F.).
• Plan to bring out a News Bulletin to promote media awareness media evaluation.
