A Sermon by Reverend Hollis Ray Mathis

reetings, holy children of God, in the wonderful name of our lord and saviour Jesus, the Christ. The sermon subject for today is:

The God Head

When men speak of the family tree, they mention men's names. Why? Because the genes, the seeds of man, proceed from the male of the species. For example, the bible says that Levi was in the loins of Abraham, even though Abraham was generations before Levi was born. And I believe that Jesus, the Christ, as the word of God, was in the father from everlasting.

Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem EPHRATAH, though thou be little among The thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel, whose going forth have been from of Old from everlasting.

Saints of God, fundamentalist believe that we worship one God in trinity, and trinity in unity: neither confounding the persons, nor dividing the substance: for there is one person of the Father: and another of the Son: and another of the Holy Ghost. But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, is all one: the glory equal, the majesty coeternal: such as the Father is, such is the Son, and such is the Holy Ghost. The Father uncreated, but the Son is the only God ever formed, created.

Isaiah 43:l0 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen, that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am He: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be After Me. I even, I am the Lord: and beside me there is no Saviour.

Beloved, we know that God took the dust of the earth, and He shaped it and formed it, in such a way, that the dust of the earth became the man Adam, and we know that God took a rib from Adam's side and He shaped it and formed it in such a way, that Adam's rib became the woman Eve. But from what substance did God shape, and form the Lord Jesus Christ, His blessed son? Jesus Christ, God's darling Son, was shaped, and formed from the word of God. In the beginning God spoke and he took his word, and shaped it and formed it, in such a way that the word of God, became the Son of God.

St. John l:l In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.

True light from true light, and true God from true God, there has never been another God formed: neither shall there be any formed after Christ was formed. Jesus Christ was the first born of every creature, the beginning of creation, and he is the first born from the dead, that he might have preeminence in all things. And he, Jesus Christ, is the creator of all things, visible, and invisible.

Colossians l:l2 (God inspired the apostle Paul to record these words concerning the Lord Jesus Christ) giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partaker of the inheritance of the Saints in light, l3. Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son. 14. In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sin. 15. Who is the image of the invisible God, the first born of every creature. 16. For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible, and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him. 17. And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the first born from the dead. That in all things he might have the preeminence. 19. For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fullness dwell.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, the Holy scriptures say that Jesus is the first born of every creature. What is a creature? A creature is something that has been created. When Jesus Christ found Himself in the form of God, he also found that God, the Father had created him equal to Himself: for any two things to be equal, they must be identical. Therefore was Jesus the same size as the Father, was He of the same substance as the Father, did he have the same power as the Father, did he have the same appearance as God the Father? Yes, Jesus was created identical to God the Father.

Philippians 2:6 who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God. 1 John 2:22 who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the father and the son.

Christian brethren, God is almighty, and Jesus the Christ is almighty, and the Holy Ghost is almighty, yet in the Godhead there are not three almighties, but one. So the Father is God, and the Son is God, and the Holy Ghost is God, yet in the Godhead we have one God.

Colossians 2:8 beware least any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead. Beloved of God, God the Father created all things by Jesus Christ, His blessed Son.

Eph:3:9: And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: Let me give you an example children of God, of what I believe the Godhead is like trinity in unity. When Jesus Christ created man he created man a trinity in unity. For there are three entities to the human person, body, soul, and spirit. The body can die, and the soul live on, or the soul can be destroyed, and the body live on. When the spirit leaves the body, the body dies.

James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead. Also.

Proverbs 6:32 But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding, he that doth it destroyeth his own soul. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power. When we as children of God, believe, and repent of our sins, and are baptized out of the world, and into the body of Christ, we actually become a part of the body of Christ: as the whole church is actually the body of Christ. But individually we are members of the body of Christ.

1Cor:12:27: Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. (KJV) And in Christ we move and have our being. The apostle Paul in his sermon on mars hill in Athens said these words concerning the Godhead.

Acts l7:26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and bounds of their habitation:

27. that they should seek The Lord, if happily they might feel after him, and find him, though He be not far from every one of us.

28. For in him we live, and move, And have our being: as certain also of your poets have said. For we are also his offspring.

29. For as much then as we are the offspring Of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. And the times of This ignorance God winked at: but now commandeth all men every where To repent:

3l. Because he hath appointed a day, in the which He will Judge the world in righteousness by that Man whom he hath ordained: whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised Him from the dead.

Saints of God in the trinity in unity there are three, the Father, and the Son the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost:

In the Godhead these are one: but each have distinct qualities, for example no man has seen God the Father at any time.

St.John l:l8 No man hath seen God at any time: the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. If a person were to look upon the face of God the Father, he will die.

Ex:33:20: And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. It was for this cause that Elijah wrapped his mantle around his face. Before Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary his name was a mystery. Jesus Christ was known as the word of the Lord. The bible said the word of the Lord came to Joah, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah; Jesus Christ came to Joah, Jesus Christ came to Jeremiah, and Jesus Christ came to Elijah in the cave.

1Kgs:19:9: And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

1Kgs:19:10: And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

1Kgs:19:11: And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:

1Kgs:19:13: And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah? And Jesus Christ, God's only begotten son, has the only name under heaven whereby men may be saved. (When Peter and John where being examined, for the good deed done to the impotent man, the apostle Peter said these words.)

Acts 4:8 then Peter filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, ye Rulers of the people, and elders of Israel.

9. If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent men, by what means he Is made whole:

l0. Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye Crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man Stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at naught of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

l2. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is None other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be Saved. Beloved this is one of the things that is a unique quality of the Holy Ghost, that if you speak against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven you in this world: neither in the world to come.( In this verse of scripture Jesus is speaking to the Pharisees, and he says these words)

St.Matthew l2:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. God the Father, and God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost, make up the Godhead, and they are omnipotent, all powerful, they are omnipresent, present all places, all the time. And they are omniscient, having infinite awareness, knowledge, and understanding. Jeremiah speaks of the omnipotence of God.

Jeremiah 32:l7 Ah lord God! Behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing to hard for thee. David, king of Israel, the psalmist sang of the omnipresence of God.

Psalms l39: 7 Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? Or whither shall I Flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art There: if I make my bed in hell, behold thou art there.

9. if I take The wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the Sea:

l0. Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall Hold me. The apostle St.John recorded these words about the omniscience of God.

1 John 3:20. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our Heart, and knoweth all things. When the Lord Jesus Christ came into the world being born of the virgin Mary: was he God or man? Or, was he both God and man? I believe that he was both God and man. I believe that spiritually he was God, because of these scriptures.

St.Matthew l:22 now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled Which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying

23. Behold, a Virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they Shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Holy children, I believe that when Jesus was born of the virgin Mary: spiritually he was God, able to make blind eyes to see, able to raise the dead, able to command the wind and the waves. But physically I believe that Jesus Christ, when he was born of the virgin Mary was a man flesh, and blood, able to suffer, bleed and die.

Hebrew 2:l6 for verily he took not on him the nature of angels: but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

l7. Wherefore in all things it behooved Him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. Saints of God I believe that when Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, that he was both perfect God, and perfect man. Equal to the Father as touching the Godhead: and inferior to the Father as touching manhood. In these verses of scripture Jesus Christ is speaking, and He says,

St.John l0:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28. And I give unto them eternal life: and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29. My father who gave them me, is greater than all: and no man is able to pluck them out of my father's hand. I and my Father are one.
