The key to Christian Salvation lies in the Words of our Lord Jesus Christ....
John
14:6
6
Jesus answered, "I am the way
and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
(NIV)
Emphasis mine. TAKE NOTE THAT
JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO THE FATHER. One must renounce all other options
to God.
And whoever believes in HIM....
John
3:36
36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son
will not see life, for God's wrath
remains
on him."
(NIV.)
Jesus is the Eternal Son of God and He is the ONLY WAY to life eternal.
What
then, are the steps necessary for sincerity salvation?
STEP ONE
Acknowledge
and confess that you are a sinner (from your heart) AND PRAY FOR GOD’S
FORGIVENESS
FOR YOUR SINS......
Luke
15:18
18
I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have
sinned against heaven and against you. (NIV)
YOU CANNOT PROCEED TO STEP TWO UNLESS YOU HAVE COMPLETED STEP ONE
STEP TWO
REPENT (True repentance is a "godly sorrow" for sin, an act of turning around and going in the opposite direction. This type of repentance leads to a fundamental change in a person's relationship to God...........from Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary (Copyright (C) 1986, Thomas Nelson Publishers)
Acts
26:20
.........I
preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance
by their deeds.
(NIV)
True repentance causes one to turn away
from his old life of sin and towards God’s way of life. Furthermore, one
must show the fruits of one’s repentance by one’s deeds which means a thief
must not steal anymore, a homosexual must stop his detestable practice
and a polygamist must not be polygamous anymore.
HERE
AGAIN, YOU CANNOT GO TO STEP THREE UNLESS YOU HAVE COMPLETED
STEP
TWO.
STEP THREE
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ-i.e. to appropriate in faith the work that He has done for you (by shedding HIS BLOOD and taking your sins) on the cross. And also to believe that He rose from the death victorious on the third day.
Acts
16:31
31
They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved-- you and
your household."
(NIV)
1
Cor 15:3-4
3
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ
died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
4
that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the
Scriptures,
(NIV)
STEP FOUR
TO CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH WHAT YOU HAVE BELIEVED IN YOUR HEART-Remember that salvation involves one’s heart and mind.......
Rom
10:9-10
9
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your
heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is
with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
(NIV)
At this point in time (after going through steps one to four in all sincerity), you can be assured that you have received God’s forgiveness for your sins and that you have put your faith in the atoning and sacrificial work of our Lord Jesus Christ and have believed in His resurrection.. In other words, you are BORN-AGAIN and have received the Holy Spirit.........
Acts
2:38
38
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of
Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of
your
sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
(NIV)
One very important point that has not been adequately stressed is this....
SALVATION IS NOT A ONCE AND FOR ALL EXPERIENCE BUT AN ONGOING WALK WITH THE LORD TILL THE END.
Matt
10:22
22
"And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he
who endures to the end will be saved.
(NKJ)
Emphasis Mine
It is ‘he’ who endures to the end who WILL BE SAVED.
Rom 13:11
11 And do this, understanding
the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber,
because our salvation is nearer now than when we first
believed.
(NIV)Emphasis
Mine
Here again, the Apostle Paul
clearly states, as a matter of fact, that our salvation is nearer now
then when we first believed;
re-affirming the fact that Salvation is a walk and not a one-time
experience. In line with this
we must, in all honesty, totally reject the “Once saved always saved”
doctrine, as it is alien to
the Word of God.
STRICTLY SPEAKING, THE ENTRY POINT OR GATE IS CALLED THE PROCESS OF ‘REGENERATION’ (Titus 3:5); THE ROAD IS THE PATH OF SALVATION THAT LEADS INTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN....
Matt 7:14
14 But small is the gate
and narrow the road that leads
to life, and only a few find it.
NIV Emphasis mine
The Bible goes on to say that it is not church-goers but over-comers who will finally get to heaven.......
Rev
3:5
5
He
who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white.
I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge
his name before my Father and his angels.
(NIV)
Emphasis Mine
Rev
21:7
7
He
who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be
his God and he will be my son. (NIV) Emphasis Mine
Yes, just as the early christians did, you must continue in the apostle’s doctrine, in fellowship (with those of the same doctrine), in the breaking of bread and in prayer....
Acts
2:42
42
And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship,
in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
(NKJ)
And seek to do His Will till the end.....
Matt
7:21
21
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven,
but only he who does the will of my Father who is
in heaven.
(NIV)
Emphasis Mine
You may hear someone say that the churches are full of hypocrites. Be assured, however, that ‘christian’ hypocrites (i.e. unrepentant ‘hypocrites’) do not get to go to heaven, only christian over-comers do.
Foot-note
IF you have not prayed a prayer through steps one to four, then pray this prayer....
“Heavenly
Father, I come to you in the Name of Jesus. I confess that I am a sinner
and want to repent of all my sins. I ask for your forgiveness for my sins
and want to put my faith in you. I believe that you shed your blood
on the cross and died for my sins. I believe that you rose from the dead
on the third day. I ask that you grant me the gift of the Holy Spirit and
lead me on to a new life in Christ Jesus.” AMEN
