2005 Rules – CBFGL
Welcome to year eight of Cow Balls Fantasy Golf. Congratulations to the Divot Heads on its first championship in 2004. The annual draft will be held Sunday, Feb. 13, at Roux’s, beginning at 4 p.m.
Cost: $40 per team, payable on draft day - no exceptions. If you cannot pay on draft day, I will accept a post-dated check. But please get something in my hands on draft day.
Prizes: The team with the highest money total at the conclusion of the regular season is refunded its entry fee. The league director's fee is $25 -- this will go toward paying for draft day food, drink, etc. The remaining purse will be divided between the champion and runner-up, with the champion receiving 75 percent.
Format/Schedule: CBFGL's 8 franchises will compete in one division. Beginning with the Nissan Open on Feb. 17, each team will play 21 regular season games. Each team will play each opponent three times. Games are determined by money earned. Up to five players on a team can play each week. Results from the Chrysler Classic of Tucson, scheduled for Feb. 24-27, and played opposite the Match Play Championship.
Draft: The draft will be held 4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 13 at Roux's house. The format of the draft will be auction. Each team will have a salary cap of $40. We will begin with bids on Vijay Singh, and continue down the 2004 money list until each team has completed a 10-man roster or spent its $40. Click here for the 2004 money list.
Rosters: While there is no minimum roster size, the maximum is 10.
Playoffs: Four teams will qualify for the playoffs. Playoff berths will be decided by record, with head–to–head record as the first tiebreaker, even in a three–way tie situation. Second tiebreaker is money list standing. In the semifinal round, the No. 1 seed will meet the No. 4 seed, with No. 2 meeting No. 3. In the semifinal round, which will last two weeks, the No. 1 and 2 seeds will each receive $25,000 bonuses as a reward for its division championships. Results from the B.C. Open, which is played the same week of the British Open, will not be counted. Winners of semifinal games will meet in the CBFGL Championship round. The championship round lasts three weeks, concluding with the PGA Championship.
Trades: The trade deadline will be Wednesday, July 6. All trades must be approved by 75 percent of the league's owners.
Add/Drops: You can drop a player at any time. However, if you drop a player while tournament play is under way that player cannot be counted in your money for the week. When a player is dropped he can be picked up by any of the other seven teams in the league over the next 48 hours at his same value. If more than one team submits a pickup bid, then bidding will start at the player's current value with the first team to submit a bid. The remaining teams which submitted a bid during the 48-hour period can choose to raise its bid and so on. The 48-hour clock begins when I send an e-mail to the league announcing the player has been dropped. If no team bids on the player, the player's value goes to $1, and any team -- including the team who dropped the player -- can pick up that player on a first-come, first-serve basis. Players picked up after a tournament's start cannot be inserted in the lineup until the following week. Add/drop deadline is Wednesday, July 6.
****These rules are subject to approval of 75 percent of the league.****
