OUR GIRL CAROL FROM HONG KONG

Carol (Ka Yu) arrived in August of 1996 after flying from Hong Kong to Taiwan to Alaska to New York to Columbus, Ohio for 22 hours. She spoke English (British) but not like us. We learned to talk slow. She had all the modern conveniences, movies, McDonalds etc. in a city of 6,000,000. What she did not have here was the crowds, the access to public transportation, and her friends and family. But she wanted to come and we wanted her to come. We all had a lot to learn. (Continue)
