Luis
Moya has been Carlos Sainz's co-driver
for the past 10 years, his ever-present partner in all
rallying successes.
This
(very modest) page is dedicated to an extraordinary
rally pair, and it's especially aimed to tracing a profile
of Luis Moya, an exceptional sportsman, a great human being
and friend! |
Luis
Rodriguez Moya
Born in La Coruņa on September 23, 1960, Luis's
rallying carrier began in 1983, when he decided to leave his
medicine studies. He became a pro in 1987, when he joined
Guillermo Barreras racing for Renault Spain Team in the Spanish
series. He joined forces with Carlos Sainz in 1988 racing
for Ford. Since then they have become inseparable, becoming
one of the strongest pairs ever to appear in the rallying
world. With the two WRC championship titles, and 21 event
rounds, Luis is WRC's most successful co-driver.
A
highly professional sportsman, Luis possesses a rare ability
to communicate that makes him one of the most charming personalities
of the rallying world.

Carlos
Sainz Cenamor
Carlos
Sainz left his law studies to dedicate himself to racing.
He made his first WRC appearance in 1987 with Ford. At his
first full assault on the WRC in 1990 he claimed the championship's
title, and repeated the triumph two years later. Since then
his name has been at the forefront of international competition
champions, and apart from a weak season with Lancia in 1993,
he has always finished at the top three of WRC. He is probably
the most dedicated of world rally drivers, and the most successful
after Juha Kankkunen. If he succeeds in winning a third WRC,
he will become the most successful driver in the history of
the WRC, record currently held by Juha Kankkunen. Carlos is
a consumed sportsman, skilled at squash (he claimed the Spanish
championship title), soccer, fencing and tennis.
