One Possible Explanation of Staind's So Far Away
This is my life
It's not what it was before
All these feelings I've shared
And these are my dreams
That I'd never lived before
Somebody shake me 'cause I
I must be sleeping
At some point in time people have to realize that the old song is true and that
life is but a dream. But just because it’s a dream that doesn’t mean that you
can’t hurt people. It doesn't mean that you're the only one in it. It also means
that you don’t have to make it out to be the nightmare that so many people seem
to think it is.
Now that we're here, it's so far away
All the struggle we thought was in vain
And all the mistakes, one life contained
They all finally start to go away
Sure, people make mistakes and bad things happen. But when will they realize
that the things they believe to be mistakes, the things that make their life a
nightmare, are what made them who they are? If you’ve only had good things
happen to you –- if you’ve only ever gotten exactly what you want –- what do you
have to compare the good to? You can’t have the warmth without the cold.
And now that we're here, it's so far away
And I feel like I can face the day
And I can forgive
And I'm not ashamed to be
The Person that I am today
People need the past -- the good and the bad of it -- because it made them who
they are today. People need the past, but they have to stop living in it. They
don’t realize that something that happened to them in the past isn't happening
now and that they should deal with it and move on. You are who you are today,
not who you were yesterday. The past should affect what you have become, not
what you will become. Someone should never be ashamed of who he or she is, or
what he or she has become. Take pride in being yourself. Take pride in
everything that you have done to get where you are today. Sure, it could always
be better, but it could be much, much worse. Don't hide who you are, be proud of
it. Flaunt it if you want. But never ever hide it.
These are my words
That I've never said before
I think I'm doing okay
And this is the smile
That I've never shown before
Somebody shake me 'cause I
I must be sleeping
Say what you feel; feel what you say. Let people know who you are. If you don’t
say what you feel how can you expect others to know what you’re thinking? If
they don't know what you're thinking then they don't really know you. It’s a tad
more difficult to talk to someone if you’re unwilling to say anything with any
meaning behind it, if you always try to hide yourSelf. But hey, there are always
other forms of communication. Give them the visual clues, use your body in the
way that it was meant to be used. Just be sure that you let them know what
you’re really thinking. People never seem to do that anymore...
I'm so afraid of waking
Please don't shake me
Afraid of waking
Please don't shake me
People don’t let others know what they’re thinking because the other person
might point out flaws, they might point out mistakes, they might burst the
bubble, they might awaken the dreamer. Dreams are fine and dandy, but you have
to realize that there is a reality out there. If your dreams are meant to happen
then they will happen. Whatever is, is. People need to learn patience, they need
to learn acceptance, they need to learn to dream.
And they need to learn what dreams can be made reality, and what dreams they
should be able to let go of.
