Baja 1992

1992 was truly seminal year. Lots of things happened that presaged things to come. Bruce brought his camper down and established the first Campo Bruce. Ed and I bought a boat and hauled it down twice. The second time, it stayed. Cathy made her first trip to Baja. We experienced the fury of the winds at Thanksgiving. Too bad these pictures are so poor. They were taken with my old 8mm camcorder, not even with the Super 8. Because they're so awful, I'm not going out of my way creating a contemporary webpage. I'll stick with the format of my earlier creations.

Memorial Day 1992

This was the trip that Bruce's camper arrived. Keith and Sean brought it down on Keith's truck. My boat made its debut. The winds crossing the Laguna Salada were legendary. It blew so hard that I could hardly open the door. I had to use my feet. The boat cover was shredded by the time we arrived. Rain appeared in the form of thundershowers north of San Felipe. The boys from the Bay area rode down with Jerry. Pieces fell off my trailer as I progressed down the road.

Thanksgiving 1992

We spent most of the time hanging out in Bruce's camper and chasing Mike the mouse. The wind was ferocious. We made a run down to Gonzaga to avoid the big waves. We did launch one day and picked up fish tacos.

Christmas 1992

This was Cathy's first trip to Baja after we began courtin' in September 1992. The weather was nice. We camped out in Eugene Rumer's tent. The fishing was good, as the gill netters hadn't screwed the place up to badly yet. Fisherman Loco Mike was down. It had been a wet autumn and the desert was green. Things bloomed that I haven't seen blooming since. Naty was the Padrón at Las Encantadas. He kept order in the place. The whole family was down for the holiday that year. We went to a nice party at Las Encantadas for New Year's Eve. It was the last time that things were as tranquil, as Naty passed a way a year or so later.

OK, that's it for 1992, go back to
