Epocem Products

Epocem® products are new breed of repair material developed by Sika. They are essentially cement based mortars that contains epoxy resins as a secondary binder component. This means that two separate binder reactions are taking place during the hardening and curing.

* The polimerization of the epoxy resin and hardener

* The hydration of the cement with water contained in the Epocem Module.

The interaction of these two fundamentally different binder systems is based on the formation of a lamellar framework of epoxy resins into and through which the cement crystals can then grow.

Advantages of Epocem:

• Excellent adhesion to damp cement based substrates and new concrete means shorter construction times
• Minimum waiting times (1-3 days depending on environmental conditions) prior to topping with resin based coatings or toppings
• No movement or expansion and no loss of bond strength, even under conditions of permanent moisture
• Creates an effective temporary moisture barrier preventing vapor transmission problems prior to top coating with epoxy or urethanes
• Rapid rate of cure and high early strength
• Waterproof, yet permeable to water vapor
• Thermal expansion/contraction compatible with substrate, thus minimizing risk of scaling and peeling, even at low temperatures
