THE BAT
(The reason there are hanging coasters today)
NAMED AFTER: The flying mammal.
THEME: Riders would fly, suspended from an overhead track, much like a bat through the night.
SPECIAL FEATURES: World's first hanging coaster of any time. It was, however, not permanent, and served as a prototype for others to come. XLR-8 was the first permanent one.
OPENED: 1981 (taken down in 1983)
