Top Story: On Thursday February 17th, Surfair CEO, Ricky Lucas, will fly to Phoenix for the weekend to meet with CEO of AirWest, Tony Moore, for a few reasons. The main reason, and probably the most important to signify the first few days of the new code share between the two airlines, SurfAir based on the east coast, and AirWest based on the west coast. As a show of jester to the people of SurfAir, lucas will be taking a passenger flight non stop from SurfAir's base in Providence, to Phoenix. In June when AirWest begins service to Providence, Tony Moore will fly to SurfAir's Hub to inogurate the new
city.
There is scheduled to be a big party at terminal 3, on Thursday, as both
CEOs of both airlines will be there at the same time. AirWest is set to
cristen its second 737-800 the 'SurfAir-bus'.
AirWest Going Intl.? AirWest announced earlier this week that they will be taking their fisrt two Boeing 757s, and repainting to a red-blue-red scheme, to introduce their new AirWest International (AWI) service. Sometime in late July AWI will be begginign service to London Gatwick, and Paris Charles De Gualle Intl. airports non stop from Newark. Their will be one single flight per day to London, except on saturdays, and a saturday only flight to Paris. The flight to Paris will originate at Newark, but the flights bound for the U.S. will arrive at John F. Kennedy Intl, to allow with easy connection with SurfAir to the caribbean.
On February 17th, 2000, AirWest places
its second Boeing 737-800 into service, along with a the final 3 737-700s.
One of these 737-700s will replace the McDonnell Douglas DC-9-51, and the
-51 will be returning to Northwest Airlines. Along with these new aircraft,
AW will be beginning service to San Francisco Intl. Airport non-stop from
Phoenix. Also there will be many new non stops from Salt Lake City, to
Seattle, Chicago, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, and New Orleans. Las Vegas will
also receive non-stop service to Albuquerque, and Phoenix will be getting
a non-stop to New Orleans. These new flights should add to your enjoyment
of AirWest, and make a more convenient trip. AirWest is proud to bring
