What do I need to buy?

With the upcoming mandatory switch to Narrowband, a 5 year plan is being put into effect beginning 1 Jan 97. We will be required to go to Narrowband (12.5 KHz) by 2008. System Saber Portable and Trunked Spectra Mobiles are not narrowband capable.

In addition, by the time narrowband comes into effect, the system may have been converted from AMSS to SmartZone. All radios purchased need to have this in mind when ordering. Remember, all portables listed here are capable of Flash Port programming, so upgrade to SmartZone if needed can be accomplished without the purchase of a new radio.
