A Web Autobiography

I recently realized that almost every place I've ever lived has some presence on the Web. This let's me write a brief autobiography. (This is definitely a page under construction. I'll try to flush it out as we go along.)

I grew up in Holyrood, Kansas, a very small town right in the center of the state.

After graduating from Holyrood High School in 1969, I attended The University of Kansas in Lawrence, graduating in 1973 with a B.A. in Physics.

Feeling sufficiently masochistic, and realizing that there was a recession going on out there, I decided to go on to graduate school at Indiana University (not "The University of Indiana") in Bloomington. Working with Prof. Bill Schaich, I finally got my Ph.D. in Physics in 1980.

In 1979, I started a Postdoctoral appointment at Rutgers University (The State University of New Jersey) with Prof. David Langreth.

Then, in 1981, I moved to Maryland and did another postdoctoral appointment at the University of Maryland College Park working with Prof. Ted Einstein (no relation).

And finally, I started working for the Naval Research Laboratory. I live in Bowie, Maryland. Bowie on the Web tells you a little bit about our city. My family and I attend the United Parish of Bowie, a Reformed Church associated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the United Church of Christ.

You can find everything you ever wanted to know about Maryland at Sailor's Home Port. Take a look, hon.
