InformationThe United States Navy's counterpart to the USAF F-15, the two-seat F-14A Tomcat is an all-weather carrierborne interceptor. With its powerful fire-control system, Tomcat can engage several targets simultaneously with Phoenix, Sparrow or Sidewinder air-to-air missiles. Tomcat is unusual in having twin fins and variable-geometry wings. Performance includes speedsof just Mach 1 at sea level and Mach 2+ at high altitude. A new version of the Tomcat is designated F-14D Super Tomcat with improved radar and weapon capabilities. Country of origin is USA. |
