Su-27 Flanker



Information

A powerful all-weather air superiority single-seat fighter aircraft, the Su-27 code-named 'Flanker' is in full scale service with the air forces of the CIS. It has a look down/shoot down radar and is armed with a 30mm gun and up to 10 air-to-air missiles, including AA-8, AA-10 and AA-11. First flight was in April 1981. Speed is Mach 2.35 and combat radius 1,500km. Tandem two-seat trainer version is Su-27UB ('Flanker C'), a side-by-side attack variant is Su-27IB and a carrierborne fighter is Su-27K ('Flanker D'). A late development is Su-27M with fly-by-wire control system and updated avionics. Country of origin is Russia.
