About This Web Ring
This WebRing was originally created on April 6, 1997 to link all the homepages of the GeoRewards Free Banner Creation Members.
On June 30, 1997, the ring was to The Official GeoCities GeoGuide Web Ring.
After a crash of the webring server the ring was reestablished in October 1998. In January 2002 the ring was terminated because of inability to move the original ring. In February 2002 the ring was re-established and renamed to The Official Geocities Web Ring.A WebRing is a group of sites/homepages linked together via an image or text identifying them as members, that have a common theme. The theme of this WebRing is that you are a Geocities member. You must already have a working homepage through GeoCities.
If not you will be removed from the queue immediately! You must comply to the requirements & rules as pointed out below.
As Geocities homesteader, you have NO OBLIGATION at at all to be a member of this Official GeoCities Web Ring. You may apply for a membership of The Official GeoCities Web Ring, but no one is telling you that you must do that.
The requirements and rules for the The Official GeoCities Web Ring are as follows:
- You must already have a homepage in one of the GeoCities directories in order to join.
- The page you submit must be your own, or managed by you. Meaning, you are the editor and WebMaster of that page.
- You must submit a valid page when joining. All fake and non-existent pages will immediately be removed from the ring queue.
- When joining, you must use a valid e-mail address or you will not receive your crucial ring registration information.
- Please do not modify the HTML fragment, except for the picture link ;-)
You may center it, but please do not change it's width or height. If you change something you may find yourself removed from the ring and you will go back to the queue until you fix it or asked to be removed from the ring.
Except from the mentioned items you may only change the HTML-fragment if you've got permission from to do so or if I tell youto change anything!- I ask that you place the HTML fragment on your main page (index.html) so ring surfers can get to the next page easily. This is not required, but it makes it easier on the Ringmaster so I don't have to go looking all over you site. If the fragment is not on the location you've entered in the application form, the ringmaster will change your info or if the location is not detectable, will not add you to the ring.
- Your homepage must conform to the Page Content Guidelines provided by GeoCities.
- IMPORTANT NOTE:
Each site which stays for more than 6 weeks in the queue will be AUTOMATICALLY REMOVED. I've have to take this measure since the queue tends to grow more and more, with sites that do not meet the requirements as set forth above.
Known problems are:
No known problems, yet.
- Geocities is not responsible for possible malfunctioning of this ring.
If something goes wrong, you can't hold the ringmaster responsible either. You participate on your own initiative and responsibility!
- The ringmaster:
- * reserves the right to (amongst other things) remove someone from the ring, edit someones info, not handling applications for a while, even if this results in automatic removal as described above.
- * is in no way related to Geocities, except for homesteader ship!
- These rules can be subject to change without notice.
