More about Mars, Time and Terraforming:
The
Martian Time Website |
The city of Orsonwelles is located at a legendary junction of railroads. From east to west runs the Southern Railroad, taking the long way from Lake Argyre to the Hellenic Sea. From Nozomi on the Olympic coast the Japanese Railroad runs straight across the southern polar area to Zond, also on the Hellenic coast; unfortunately the track is closed for eighteen months a year. Tranquility, on a beautiful setting at Tear Lake in Chamberlain Crater, is the southernmost big city on Mars. In winter there's hardly any daylight for six months but the city has it's own orbital mirror; it's beam of light is an impressive sight when you're standing on the crater rim. However in Tiunor, the first month of the southern summer, the Sun doesn't set anymore and even in Tranquility it's warm enough to walk naked. |
