1. Safety issues regarding medical devices:
This arm of the FDA is responsible for regulating medical devices and conducting electromagnetic interference (EMI) investigations.
OSHA, an arm of the U.S. Department of Labor, sets safety standards in the workplace. Information on Exposure Control can be found here.
An arm of the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the NIOSH deals with safety and health issues.
The NRC regulates medical uses of nuclear materials to ensure protection of public health and safety.
AAMI sets standards for biomedical equipment in healthcare facilities.
The NFPA site has information on fire and safety in general. It also sets standards on fire and electrical safety in health care facilities. The NFPA 99 standard can be obtained from their online catalog.
