Ayer's Rock [Uluru] is amazing! What is that "double bedding" and "meandering white lines" about? Why all the big "dents" with rings around them?" Uluru has been identified as "Pre-Cambrian," so it has been exposed to the elements for a very long time, and still these features persist. How was it tipped on it's side? The Rock is about 5 1/2 miles in diameter and stands 1,100 feet tall in the north Australian desert. It is composed of a gray mineral identified as Arkose Sandstone [a sedimentary rock composed of coarse grains of Orthoclase Feldspar (KAlSi3O8)] that rusts to a light red-orange sandstone that turns black when it gets wet. What kept the iron from rusting when it was initially deposited? Did that happen before free oxygen existed in our atmosphere? Is it a piece of a differentiated asteroid? The following projection furnished courtesy virtuozo.com presents a valuable viewpoint. The red circles are to call attention to strange features.
