Window to my soul…
Hey there, welcome to my poetry page. I decided to put this page together so that I could display all of my poetry in one place, for the benefit of all my many fans. It's a pretty simple page really: mostly it's just poems. You'll also find that many of these are listed on
www.poetry.com, however some of them exceed the maximum length restraints for that page. Not to worry though, they're all here. Well, the ground rules are simple: enjoy my work, but don't steal it from me. Most of these are already copyrighted, as you will see indicated below them. However some are still in the works, and don't have their copyrights just yet. I'm telling you this up front, because I trust that no one who would come to this site would bring with them any kind of malicious intent. So, on with the show.
Chris Stokdyk's Poetry Collection
Shining down upon the Earth
Against a sea of stars,
The lunar lord of evening light
Watches from afar.
Through a canopy of trees
He casts a light so warm;
I stare into the starry sky
And hold you in my arms.
Together we see fireflies
Dancing in the air;
As sleep sets in I softly speak,
Whisp'ring in your ear:
"Into a realm of fantasy
Tonight you will be born.
May you dream of happy places
And find them in the morn.
Lay your head upon my breast,
Hear my beating heart.
Rest, sleep, have no fear;
Tonight we will not part."

You didn't have to say a word,
You didn't have to speak
You didn't have to make a sound
To make yourself unique
All it took was looking up;
Staring in my eyes.
With your gaze you captured me:
You held me, mesmerized.
I could have taken back my stare,
Or looked the other way,
But in your eyes I saw you smile,
Asking me to stay.
So I'll linger for a while,
Captive in your view.
Fate was kind to give me one
As beautiful as you.

The air this time of year,
With the cool breeze, the leaves
Are the same color on the ground
As they are on the trees.
The air this time of year
Is brisk, but at the same time
Is somehow enticing. For when
I go into the air of the fall,
I find it does more than surround me.
The air this time of year
Envelops me and calls me from
Whence I came. It calls me to thee.
And like a child called home from a field of play,
Like a man called home from the field of battle,
So too shall I return home to you. Evermore
Shall I remain by your side. Evermore
Shall I warm your house with the fire of my soul.
For ever will you find me there,
Nestled by thy side.

Walk with me
The night is young
And we have much to say
Where we go
The trail knows
It guides us on our way
Speak with me
Speak to my soul
Forever must you stay
For I know
You are the one
For whom I breathe today

Love the lovely,
Love the poor,
Love the dude passed out on your floor
Fear the ugly,
Fear the chore,
Fear anything not seen here before
See the water,
See the pool,
See me as I'm playing the fool
Hear the echoes,
Hear them fall,
Hear the dude crawl into the hall
Watch for sunsets,
Watch for june,
Watch for me to fly to the moon.
Love the lovely,
Feed the poor,
Bury the dude that died on the floor.

You amaze me.
You fill me with a sense
Of love, and then just as quickly
Hide your face, as if
You are afraid to feel it too.
Amazing also is the way
You find the ways to make
Me smile, even when the day
Is cold, or the mood is sullen.
How you do this is beyond me, and
There it shall stay. I ask not
To understand. Instead I ask
Only that it never end,
Just as my love for you
Will never end, oh Siren,
And I will never leave.

I find I'm feeling lost today
Feeble, weak, and tired
Softly I shall find a stay
Alone beside a fire
Quiet ambers burning bright
Cannot make me warm
My soul sits lonlier tonight
Than flames amid a storm
Today I saw the memories
Of two lives lived as one
Crash into the torrent sea
Like stars that came undone
One half stayed above the ground
And carried on our song
While my half fell without the sound
I'd cherished for so long
So lonesome by that burning hearth
I pray that God be kind
And as she leaves her life on Earth
I be not far behind

In
Sadness
The words we
Hear become few.
The
Ones we
Love to hear
From grow silent
Where did she go?
What did I do?
What do I say?
To
Call her
Would reveal
Anxiety
So
I too
Grow silent.
Pitiful me.

I hear you telling me to wait
Until the time is right
To you a kiss must wait until
No longer we can fight
And while I share the feeling that
The moment should be pure
I find myself befuddled as
I tend to be unsure
For if the moment when we met
And felt that warm embrace
Were in itself a tiny piece
Of Heaven's lovely grace
Then I have all but seen this time
And felt that it was right
When I looked in your starlit eyes
Amid the air of night
There among the dragonflies
And creatures of the night
The moon came down and shared with you
His soft and glowing light
And at that time I realized
As summer swept away
Forever in my eyes you'd be
As stunning as today
Don't touch that dial…more to come!
