What a nice surprise to find this site. I bought a Mark II soon after they came out (1971?) through an uncle who got it duty free for me. Both be and my parents thought $NZ140 (£45) was a lot of money to spend on a watch. For a kid of modest means it cert inly was but I loved the looks of the Moon watch and just couldn't resist the Mark II when I saw it in a magazine. It came with a slate face and red hands on the secondary timer - the slate face had to go. I wear a De Ville during the week now - better suited to double cuffs - but the old OSP goes back on the wrist on Friday nights. I've often thought about how nice it would be to have a few other Omegas - a Flightmaster, the first of their digital watches and another from the early 70's - name unknown - black oblong face with gold edge and a face like the Eurotunnel clock at London aterloo station. I have a car of the same vintage as the watch. While I see no obvious explanation for it, I understand its is actually very common to be captivated by both technologies. Again, nice web site.

I owned my Speedmaster Professional since March of 1967. My wife, who was then a PanAm stewardess, bought it for me in duty free Curacao for $108.00. It is, in my opinion, still one of the most attractive time pieces ever created for active sportsmen. I first noticed it on the wrist of the commodore of my yacht club agains whom I raced my 20'-3" LOA one-design sailboat, and I knew that I also had to have one. I have been wearing it every day ever since.

Great site! Just bought a new speedmaster Pro moon watch. I'm kind of collecting Omegas. First impressions. Excellent readability and well finished. Very happy with it, but i've heard that Omega have started using plastic parts in the movement. Is this a eduction in quality? I bought this watch because of it's outstanding reputation for reliability, NASA tests and all that. Is this still the case? Is this new watch as good as its forbearers or is it just surviving on its reputation.I'd like to know becaus I really do need a reliable mechaniocal watch to operate in difficult conditions, as part of my proffesion. Could someone please e-mail me with an answer. Many thanks Fraz

I have just purchased a 1969 pre-moon speedmaster. The case no is 145 022. It is a 861 cal and is in almost mint condition. I would like to know 2 things. Is this a fairly rare model as it does not contain the raised "o" but has a silkscreened one. From t e literature I can gather that the metal raised "O" was manufactured until late 1968, making the production of this particular model only for 6 months prior to the release of the commemorative edition. Am I correct? The other is that the watch has not got the original strap. I have the original one but it is damaged. It is the flat type with the stretch links around the clasp. I went to the agents but the replacement strap is not the same, it is the 1171-633 bracelet. The one I have is the 1039. Is there a y way I can get or onyone that has the original bracelet, or know where I can get one. It is a shame not to have the original braclet for a watch that is in such good condition.

My son (2 years old - he likes watches) decided to trow my Omega Speedmaster, bought 5 months ago) from the window: 2 Floors!! It may seem surprising, but the only problem was a dented glass and the little counter hand was out. Got it repaired for less than 60$ and it's now as good as new. The Real problem is how you teach a 2 year old that moon watches dont fly?

My Speedmaster 3570.50 is on order from a jewlery store in CA. I am very excited about it, as I am a space/nasa/apollo enthusiast and enjoy anything related to the apollo missions. The retail price was listed as $2295 and I was given the standard discount of 30% which looks to be a fair price compared to other internet sources. I have enjoyed reading this site for all the information about this watch, and the links opened my eyes to the joys of fine watch collecting; something I might one day get into. Keep up the good work. One more thing, how should go about obtaining the nasa-style velcro strap for this watch? And is this strap functional, or do I need to be wearing my space suit to use it?

The X-33 on the other hand, is that I am now speechless! The watch has every function I need imaginable, well, except its not a female attracter. Great site! I own a Rolex Sea-Dweller and my next purchase will be a vintage Speedmaster with some history to it. The search is on. M.B.

Look forwarding to joining....I needed to send my serial number in for date of manufactor first. I believe my Speedy is approx. 1969, but with the "First Watch On the Moon" engraved on the back.
