It is suggested that you check on these items once every six months. Make sure you know where they are so you can grab them in a hurry! BASIC EQUIPMENT for ANY OPERATION Any Identification Badges or Cards (sometimes its no ID no access) HF radios, power supply, battery and cables, antennas, extra coax, support for the antennas, ground rods and ground straps, CW key Table and chairs 2 meter radio, power supply, batteries and extra batteries, charger, antennas headphones, pigtails, connectors, connector type converters Cell phone and charger Tool Kit - what ever you leave out, you'll need Something to write on and write with Flashlights and batteries, chem lights rope, string, safety tape (orange) zip lock bags Water - 3 gallons per day per person (including 1 gallon of potable) Area lighting - halogen generator, including fuel, oil, spare plug, fire extinguisher binoculars bleach for disinfectant first aid kit Insect repellent Shelter - rain gear, space blankets CREATURE COMFORT AND FIRST AID Once the first few hours of an event have passed you'll be looking for the creature comforts. Use this list to help you to begin assembling those things to make your hours away from home more enjoyable. Food - (water was above) - soft drinks, high energy food to last a week (use ready to eat), coffee and a pot to make it in, and you might consider MREs from a Military Surplus Store Clothing - 1 week supply, hot - cold - wet - dry, hats, gloves, good shoes Insect Repellent - so important we've said it twice Personal Needs - your personal medicines, shaving kit, soap, sun screen, glasses or contacts, tooth brush and paste, towel, hair care First Aid Kit - your going to be tired, sleepy, with strange food and maybe water - in addition to the normal first aid items include basic things to make you feel better: aspirin, Tylenol, tums, pepto bismol, latex gloves, etc Paper Products We Live By - toilet paper, Kleenex, paper towels Mess Kit - 90s style, in a zip lock bag put plates, cups, plastic silverware, and bring assorted tupperware containers Cash - not too much, but include change Maps and Compass - in case you have to leave Whistle, Signal Mirror, Strobe, Personal ELT. Sleeping - clothes for sleeping, pillow, sleeping bag Plastic Trash Bags - a 13 gallon is a nice mid size, more uses than you can imagine Emergency Phone Numbers - family, personal and group address book, local emergency numbers, local telephone book Valuables - NONE, leave them at home, don't make yourself a target
