NAME: Fauziah Ismail

DATE OF BIRTH: November 7, 1962 in Johor Baru, Malaysia

ZODIAC: Scorpio

MARITAL STATUS: Single

HOBBIES: reading, surfing the Net, listening to music, doing Crossword Puzzles and sometimes, fishing

MUSIC: classical, ballads and some jazz.

FAVOURITE AUTHORS: Ernest Hemingway, Marian Keyes, Barbara Taylor Bradford, D H Lawrence

SPORTS: I am not much of a sportsperson (I only indulge in bowling) but I support the Yankees, and Johor's soccer team, irrespective whether they win or lose

SIBLINGS: I have an older sister, Ainon@Zubaidah, and a younger brother, Mohd Fathil

NICKNAME: "Mysar" is actually short for Maisarah, who is Fathil's daughter

EDUCATION: I had my pre-school at a kindergarten at Jalan Othman in Petaling Jaya 1967/68, spent three months in Std One at Convent Bukit Nanas in Kuala Lumpur in 1969 and then transferred to Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus in Johor Baru until Malaysian Certificate of Examinations in 1979. I was at Maktab Adabi in Muar, Johor for five months in 1981 and continued at Cambridge College (1981/82) until the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia in 1982.

FAMILY: I grew up in a protective environment. The only I remembered about my childhood is being ferried personally by my parents to school and back, for tuition, school games, shopping, movies and where ever else I want to go. I am always envious of friends who talked of their colourful childhood -- playing in padi fields and riding bullock carts home, rolling in mud and climbing trees. I am almost embarassed to say that I did not know how a mangosteen tree looked like despite it being my favourite local fruit. It was several years ago that a friend showed me one at a house in the outskirts of the city where we had stayed for a weekend retreat

OCCUPATION: I joined as a journalist on March 12, 1984. On April 1 1994, I was promoted as Specialist Writer and a month later, offered the post of Assistant News Editor. I am now the News Editor, having been promoted to the post on July 1, 2000.
