Much research has gone into the forming of this virtual airline based on the Northwest
format including contact with executives to obtain permission to use the Northwest Airlines name and logos.
The idea of a virtual airline based on the Northwest theme was created in late 1995 by Ed
Augustine. After much research and work was finally able to officially start Northwest Virtual Airlines on April 1, 1997.
Soon after permission was also granted by KLM, Mesaba and Continental Airlines and at the
end of 1997 our alliance was formed creating Northwest Virtual Airlines et al® (NWVA et
al). In no way are we affiliated with Northwest Airlines, KLM , Mesaba or Continental
Airlines or their affiliates, nor can we obtain any discounts for our virtual
pilots. We are strictly fans of Northwest Airlines, it's affiliates and it's aircraft.
This virtual airline is operated by an aviation buff and simulator enthusiast and
Northwest Airlines has no financial or any other interest in this venture. Since Northwest
Virtual Airlines et al® opened it's doors in April of 1997 many have jumped on the
bandwagon of real world airlines names trying to copy our operation.Northwest Virtual
Airlines et al© is the original and ONLY virtual airline given permission to operate
using a real world
name inserting the wording "virtual".
KLM Virtual Airlines, Mesaba Virtual Airlines and Continental Virtual Airlines are all
part of the Northwest Virtual Airlines et al® group. Due to our contractual commitments,
we are not able to form partnerships nor can we "join" with any other virtual
airlines or do anything that could embarrass the real world airlines
