Puerto Galera By Seaplane

MAP OF LOCAL FLIGHT

Chinese New Year and time for another adventure, the lads had decided to go down to Puerto Galera for the week taking advantage of the chinese holiday. after a weekend in the Westin Hotel, we were ready for a weeks diving in one of the jewels of the Philippines. Rather than spend a day by bus and banka we decided to take the local seaplane there. The trip would last 45 minutes with spectacular views. The map opersite  is a rough idea of the flight path which takes you past Volcano Island.

Fueling

The Cessna 180 lies in Manila Bay being refueled for the flight. The charter cost US$350 and will take 3 persons max, the journey by bus and boat will take a day where as this flight will take 45 mins almost door to door

Ready To Board

Mike the skipper completes the refuel and were about ready to go.

South Bound

Leaving the Manila Bay behind, we head south and cross country to the next lump of water.

Arrival

The accommodation at the Tropicana was great value at 1200 Ps per night, with a four poster bed, TV and hot running water and a great restaurant, the steaks were fantastic, and with the pirate atmosphere we felt very much at home.

Davroz In The Deep

While the boys were doing there nitrox course, I'm doing my PADI Open Water at Capt. Greggs. With flying , diving, beautiful reefs, beaches, great food, cheap beer and friendly locals what more do you need.

Paradise

Looking out from Capt. Greggs bar across to the mainland, but who wants to leave.

Time To Leave

The Cessna is loaded as sadly we leave for Manila after a fantastic week.

Volcano Island

Passing volcano Island to the right, a lake within a lake

The Cockpit

Flying over the landscape at between 1550 and 4000 feet the view is great

Manila Bay Coast

Manila city lies in the distance as we cross the coast line.

Landing

Coming in to land in Manila Bay, we cruise passed the Westin Hotel.

Good-bye

As we leave Mike behind he fuels up ready for his trip back to Subic.
