STAYING WARM: A STUDY
IN ENERGY MANAGEMENT
I think I have the problem
of staying warm this winter solved. I have installed "central heating"
in the apartment.
The above catalytic heater
runs on Jet fuel, and kicks out about 30,000 BTU's, which would be enough
to turn this place into a sauna if the windows didn't leak air like screen
doors. It is not too bad when the wind is not blowing 40 mile an
hour, but when the wind kicks up the curtains wave back and forth, which
makes me think I should try to get something to seal them up for the winter.
Double pane glass, you ask? You've got to be KIDDING!!
And for those odd occasions
when the electricity actually works:
The Virtual Fireplace: take
it with you where ever you go!!!
And last but not least:
the ultimate in modern bathing accessories.
Are you tired of the same old bathtime routine? Sick of hot showers,
or those boring old limitless quantities of steaming water gushing into
your bathtub from a cleverly hidden tank of automatially-heated H2O for
those cold winter bubblebaths? I offer hope for a new experience.
This is what we refer to as a "coffee cup bath water heater" ! (The
manufacturer does not actually state that you should unplug this interesting
little bath heater BEFORE getting in the tub, but prudence
and a healthy regard for electrocution or second degree burns should make
this simple precaution mandatory!) Simple instructions: Pour
water into tub from barrel in back yard. Insert "Coffee Cup Style
Bath Tub Water Heater" into water. Plug into handy 220 volt electrical
socket that is 8 inches from the top of the tub (seriously). Stand
back and watch as the water comes to a steaming froth in about 8 hours.
(Beat the crowds- start early!) And THERE YOU HAVE IT!!!
