Kuril Islands 8.2 quake   

The latest Great quake, the 8.2 Kuril Islands event on 01/13/07 which generated a tsunami "watch" here in Hawaii. It was cancelled about 2 hours later but did manage to cause a 5 inch tidal disturbance.


Northern Sumatra 8.7 quake   

The second largest great quake I have recorded to date, the 8.7 undersea earthquake off the west coast of Northern Sumatra on 03/28/2005. This event was just southeast of the great 9.15 quake, but thankfully did not generate another killer wave.


Northern Sumatra 9.15 quake   

The largest great quake in the world in the last 40 years, the catastrophic 9.15 undersea earthquake off the west coast of Northern Sumatra on 12/26/2004. Tsunami waves of 60 feet (20 meters) high were reported on the nearest shorelines. This quake caused the worst tsunami disaster in history.
