RECENT LARGE HAWAII EARTHQUAKES. (CLICK IMAGES TO

The most powerfull quake I have ever felt, and by far the biggest "local" quake I
have yet recorded, the massive and very distructive 6.6 earthquake here off
the Kona coast on 10/15/06. The earthquakes epicenter was only about 9 miles away and shook our
area severly. Things were "thrown" out of our cupboards and off shelves, mostly in an East-West
direction. Damage estimates were well over 100 million dollars in the state. The 6.0 aftershock
is also included. This seismogram was recorded using the Lehman Horizontal seismometer.
