The Physics Department at The Australian Defence Force Academy has a Radio Telescope that they wish to use for undergraduate laboratories. The labs will involve mapping the centre of our galaxy using a frequency of 1.42GHz (ie Hydrogen lines). The project has been split into two parts.
1. The analysis, design, construction and testing of the feed horn for 1.42GHz. I will be involved with this part of the project, and
2. The analysis, design, construction and testing of a low noise pre amplifier also for 1.42GHz. Another student from the University of Newcastle will be doing this. His name is Upendra Singh.
You can view my project proposal, which has been submitted to the University of Newcastle.
Various bits of information that I have collated to do with my project will be available on this site as I complete them.
