Every year, thousands (I'm talking around 50 thousand!) of people hit Sixth Street to celebrate Halloween. The police barracade the street so no vehicles may be driven on it and the surrounding blocks. They also set up a center area that people cannot access (for crowd control and emergency purposes) with the barracades. Everyone walks counterclockwise around this central barracade, showing off their costumes and/or viewing everyone else's costumes. It is an event I reccommend to ANYONE who is in the Austin area at that time! Be forewarned, though, it will be tough to get into any of the bars.
