Covalent Bonds

Two atoms which both need additional electrons to achieve a noble gas configuration can share electrons.
  • A pair of electrons which contribute to the two adjacent atoms is called a bond.
  • If two atoms share four electrons, the bond is called a double bond.
  • If two atoms share six electrons, the bond is called a triple bond.

In the ficticious magna monomer, shown below, there are double bonds between a carbon and an oxygen, and between two carbons. For the double bonds at the end of the molecule, this is where the liquid molecule will react to form solid material.

    The ficticious material magna
is used for the Weyland Yutani story.
