Système International d'Unitès (SI)
length | meter | m |
mass | kilogram | kg |
time | second | s |
electric current | Ampere | A |
temperature | Kelvin | K |
quantity of substance | mole | mol |
luminous intensity | candela | cd |
The seven items that comprise Système Internationale d'Unitès
do not include force or energy.
However, the unit for force, the Newton, by definition, utilizes the official
SI units kilograms, meters, and seconds.
meters
1 Newton = 1 kilogram * --------
seconds2
Likewise, the unit for energy, the Joule, by definition, utilizes the
official SI units kilograms, meters, and seconds.
meters2
1 Joule = 1 Newton meter = 1 kilogram * --------
seconds2
You may notice that the units for force correspond to mass multiplied
by acceleration, and that the units for energy correspond to
force multiplied by distance. When you study physics you will
explore this further.
