Above is a large plastic flower pot. It has a square
dowel across the top. See the hand holding it on the right. Plastic
flowers are attached to the stick below which is a tin cup that has
holes in it. As water is poured into the cup the center of gravity
shifts lower and the flowers will straighten up. The water then leaks
out of the cup slowly and on down into the bottom of the plastic pot
and out its holes. After a considerable amount of the water comes out
of the cup the center of gravity again shifts and the flowers fall
slowly over again. A little work for a demo the kids won't forget.
Have students make a diagram of why and how it works. After you do
the magic part.
