SR-71 Blackbird
The SR-71's shape is one of the first examples of the use of stealth technology to reduce radar cross-section of a combat aircraft. The Blackbird crossed the United States at a record speed of 2,124 mph in 1990. It cruises to 82,000 ft at mach 3. At high speed and altitude, friction causes the skin of the aircraft to heat up to 400* F. Of the 32 that were built, 3 are still flying today.
