I have updated PVMPOV to work with PovRay 3.0 (a very popular raytracer). With PVMPOV you can render your images distributed to multiple machines of different type.
: This version still contains some bugs. It is not tested very well. But it should work for normal images, that don't use too many of the new features. Please send me a mail, of what works and what does not.
This version now also supports animations. Multiple frames are rendered in parallel.
If you use PVMPOV please tell me about it. It would be really great if you could send me a postcard.
Radiosity is not working correctly.
The UO options for animations (use odd lines in odd frames) is not working.
There is a memory leak. The slaves use more and more memory during the run. See here for the changes necessary to fix that problem at least partially.
The UO options for animations (use odd lines in odd frames) is not working.
Sometime blocks are misplaced. I have no idea why that happens, and what you can do against it.
I have not done much work on PVMPOV in the last time. If I find the time to continue the work on PVMPOV it will propably be a major rewrite. I will propably switch to MPI.
If you have remarks or wishes for the next version please tell me about it.
The current verision of PVMPOV is 3.1. This version works with PovRay 3.01/3.02. You need the unix sources of PovRay to use PVMPOV. And you also need the PVM system. There is currently no patch to use PVMPOV directly with the Windows sources of PovRay.
