You may well ask, "Larry, have
you gone batty?!? What's up with the cows?!?" Chicago had ~300
fiberglass cows, decorated by local artists with themes illustrating
different aspects of life in Chicago, as a part of the 1998-1999
"Cows on Parade" exhibit. The Cows exhibit was
inspired from a similar project in Zurich, and was organized in
Chicago by a Wilmette resident. One of the artists who worked on
the exhibit also lives in Wilmette, and frequently decorates
his house with the "half a cow" he has left from the
main exhibits. In addition, Wilmette has 12 of the cows on display
at the Plaza del Lago shopping center. These were "borrowed"
to stimulate business during the Sheridan Road construction project.
