Cycling is the only sport for true athletes. There is no butt-patting, no rolling around with other guys in tight clothes, no rests between "periods." It's three to five hours of solid work. If you fall and get hurt, nobody stops the race until you miraculously recover your ability to walk and run......you either get up and keep going, or lay there and bleed until somebody comes along to throw your sorry ass in the back of a truck. There's no oxygen on the sidelines, no pep talks in the locker room, no substitutions, no special teams. There are no scholarships, no glamorous prizes, no national awards for excellence. It is not a platform from which to launch a career in advertising or the movies. It's dirty, brutal, sweaty, in-the-trenches competition in its purest form, and nobody cares if you make it or not.
I did it a little bit in high school, and a little bit in college, and picked it up again abaout a year ago.
I may post some pics of those early days, I may not. I will for sure
post some of me in recent races.
Meantime, check out My club web page!
