Facts about the Union City Police Department's Exploring Program:
Explorer
Post #2052 was founded in November, 1995, by Police Chief Joe Garner
. The Explorer Post was developed as a means
of getting young people interested in the law enforcement field
and at the same time, improve communications between the Union City
Police Department and our youth.
Explorer
Post members learn about law enforcement by direct participation.
After receiving the necessary training & certification, Explorers are allowed
to ride on patrol with the police officers and see first hand
what law enforcement is all about.
Explorer Post Activities:
Explorers
participate in many fun and interesting police and civic activities.
Explorers help with department programs such as our National Night Out events. The most popular activity is the Explorer Ride-Along Program.
New
Explorers learn the basics of law enforcement in the classroom
by attending the Bi-Monthly Training Sessions sponsored by the Union City Police
Department. Explorers are taught everything from Traffic Control to Firearms Safety & Qualification.
