Soldiers during the War Between the States,
like people today, had terms and phrases we know as slang
to describe various events, actions, or things. Today we
might say that the regiment looked "cool" on
dress parade or the long march caused you to "run
out of gas." But how would a soldier during the War
Between the States say he enjoyed something or that
something had gone poorly. Well, it's time to learn about
"first rate" and "played out". Select from the possible answers under "Modern Equivalent", use each answer only once. When you are done, check your answers under the "Answers" column. |
