Both botched operations are a horrifying indicator of the Israeli propensity to employ biochemical weapons offensively and for political purposes even in the absence of an imminent and grave threat to its security. The use of poisonous nerve agents to murder political opponents by Israel's killing machine, the Mossad, reinforces old rumors and lends credence at the street level to once discredited conspiracy theories pertaining to Israel's use of biochemical agents to inflict mass damage on an unsuspecting Arab population.
Now that the Genie is out of the Mossad's lead bottle, and into the Hamas leader's nervous system, there is no going back. Even in the presence of an antidote for Meshal, there will never be one for the rising suspicions by many Arabs whose old claims of an ongoing Israeli biochemical warfare have been ridiculed by others in and outside the Middle East.
The present argument in the Arab streets maintains if Israel was caught red-handed once, how many times did it succeed and for what purposes did Israel deploy their biochemical capabilities before. We may never know but many are not waiting for answers and choose to use their imaginations as substitutes for hard facts. But in the presence of the Mossad-Meshal affair, a serious credibility preach has occurred. And any attempt to belittle conspiracy theorists in the presence of the Israeli terror escalation is bound to be discredited.
It is no longer a US versus USSR confrontation which worries us any longer, it is clowns with nuclear and biochemical weapons at their disposals (a.k.a Netanyahu). The world, some argue, was much safer for the Mideast and the rest of the world during the cold war when the balance of powers between East and West ensured a semblance of stability. But with the absence of a counterbalance, a fanatically religious and ultra-nationalist Israel unconditionally backed by the full faith and credit of the US DOD, is running amuck and unchecked.
When you factor in Israeli incompetence, you have a truly alarming situation. Today, Israel is the proud owner of 200 nuclear devices but continues to reject all nuclear non-proliferation treaties. Israel also boasts advanced biochemical weapons capabilities. What occurred during the Mossad fiasco in Amman was a blatant use of biochemical weapon in an offensive manner.
This is not an Israel whose existence is threatened by marching Arab armies and resorting to weapons of mass destruction as a last resort, this a calculating, albeit foolish, Israel which chose, with the blessings of its upper echelon, to deploy biochemical weapons to liquidate political opposition. This clearly demonstrates Israel's propensity and the ease by which it is willing to up the ante in an already troubled region.
If you think for a second that Israel's neighbors, friends and foes, are standing by silently, think again. Odds are they are scrambling to develop and purchase comparable capabilities to counter new Israeli' terror tactics. If you are thinking what I am thinking, we could be on the verge of yet another arms race of a more sinister nature, no thanks to Netanyahu.
As for my ongoing skirmishes with the conspiracy theorists, and their reoccurring claims of a Mossad plot to use covert biochemical warfare to poison Arab water sources and food supplies, I throw in the towel. For no defensive argument I can put forth, from now on, will ever withstand the Mossad-Meshal test.
