Well I went to camp this summer. It
was my sixth summer in International Falls. I really had a good time.
I had very good campers in my cabin both sessions. I was very lucky.
I am planning on being on the 2000 staff.
When I got home that
is when the fun started. I had to tell my parents that I was not
going to school this year. They weren't to happy about it.
I explained that I wanted to take a year off, think about what I want to
do, choose an new school, and make some money for school.
Work News
So I looked for a job.
I found one within a few days. It was a carpentry job with star construction
company. I told the guy that I could not start the next day because
I had to go kayaking. So basically I skipped the first day of work.
I started the job after
a wonderful day of kayaking. This job was very tough. I worked
my ass off all day. It had to be the hardest job I ever had.
When I got home from work I would go to bed. It was so tough.
It was worse than working on Heinle's crew for 8 hours! Then my boss
made the job even worse. This guy is a complete ass hole! He
treated me so bad. He had no respect for me. He called me every
name in the book for no reason. He went out of his way to make my
life miserable. Then pay day came around. He gave no one a
check. Everyone was so mad! The he suddenly moved all the work
to past Cleveland. We had to commute an hour each way. It was
horrible. Then I come to find out that he moved up there.
Well I worked the job
three weeks. I could not put up with the job anymore. The one
of my friends dad offered me a job. He said that all I had to do
was drive an off road dump truck all day. The work was 1/2 half an
hour way from my house. He also added that he would pay $15 an hour!
I jumped right on that. That was double what I was making.
I started the job September
27 and have been working there ever since. I like the job.
I usually drive the truck shown below but lately I have been doing other
things. I have been building offices, laying pipe, directing traffic,
messing around with man holes, doing water taps, and doing grade.
Now that it is winter, I haven't been working as many hours as I would
like.
School News
I had to figure out
what I wanted to do before I could figure out what school to go to.
I decided on majoring in Outdoor Recreation. After figuring out the
major I decided that I want to go to Western
State College in Gunnison Colorado. I applied and got accepted.
I have also sent them money to reserve my spot. It looks like the
perfect school for me. Gunnison is the perfect place to study outdoor
recreation. The Gunnison Valley has some world class white water,
real good skiing, and good backpacking. Then they have things called
wilderness pursuits. I guess you sign up for them and go out on trips
with your class mates.
Guess who from camp
goes there. Brandon Roberts. It will be awesome going to school
with Brandon. Guess who else goes there. Erica Black.
It will be cool going to school with her. It will really rock if
Rita comes and visits. It would be great to party with Rita.
Kayaking News
The season has basically
come to an end. I might go to the New river next weekend. I
bought a new kayak at Gauley Fest. It is a very good one. Since
camp I have gone kayaking about 6 times. This year I have gone about
20 to 25 times. I have been getting some use out of my kayak.
Check out the kayaking page to here all the stories.
This spring I got into
a kayaking accident and I am not allowed to kayak anymore.
