I believe that every law abiding person has the right to defend themselves, and the government is way too invasive of that right (as well as many others). Banning ANY form of firearm will NEVER reduce crime, and will only hurt the law abiding citizens who would never think of commiting such crimes in the first place!
Join the NRA, Support the Second Amendment, and vote for supporters of it, or this beloved country of ours will keep getting worse folks! Don't ever compromise!
I enjoy hunting, even though I don't get to enough. How much is enough you say? My Uncle Bill hunts everything that moves on the face of the planet...well Wisconsin anyways. The only way he could hunt more is if he quit working!
I also enjoy various shooting competitions, even one that uses those evil "Assault Weapons" (Quotes added because you and I know thats not what they really are.)
Below is a list of the shooting disciplines that I participate in, Please send me feed back if you share the same interests. NOTE: If you are anti gun / anti hunting, please keep your comments to yourself. Telling me your views will fall on deaf ears as telling YOU my views would do the same. Thank you!

My second gun isn't as flashy but a workhorse none the less. It is a "Slab Side" Ruger MK II Competition model. All I've added to this gun is an Ultradot 30mm red dot sight and some drop in Volquartsen triger parts. I average 290 (out of 300 points) with this gun but have shot a 297-13x !

For Deer hunting My primary rifle is a Remington "Classic" model 700 in .35 Whelen. It is scoped with a Leupold 3.5-10 power with adjustable objective. I just aquired a Marlin 1895 Guide Gun in .45-70 to cary in the brush, the heavy guns were just getting too tiresom to drag through the woods. I also use the above mentioned Springfield M1-A. I have a Vietnam era AN-PVS/2 Night vision scope that goes up with us so we can watch all the deer at the feeder after dark. I also cary the first gun I ever owned, A Ruger Redhawk in .44 Magnum. That gun has bagged more deer than all my rifles combined!

Doggin':
HooYah!
This is fun. We go to South Dakota for this sport. OK, technicly this
is
not "Hunting", it's more like Sniper Practice! But those dogs cary more
disease and tear up more top soil than you can imagine. The ranchers
are
usually happy to see us, but a few slob shooters are ruining it for the
rest of us. Some ranchers say their cattle have been shot, and others
have
had damage done to fences and had electrical boxes targeted. THIS
MUST STOP!!!
I
currently shoot a Savage 110FV in .22-250 Ackley Improved. Short action
length cartrige with .220 Swift velocities. Yeah Yeah, it's going to be
a throat burner, but they make new barrels every day!
I
also have an Bushmaster AR-15 with a carbine length (16") Krieger
Barrel and 'modified' "Varmatch®" style Handgaurd/float tube
assembly in .223 Remington. It isn't very good past 300 yds. but if the
first
round doesen't get 'em, the next 29 will!

New pic of "Bushmaster/Krieger" comming soon.
Self Defense: This isn't really a sport...more of a nescesity! I practice often and am very proficient with the two arms I consider the ultimate in home defense tools. The .45 ACP pistol and the 12 GA. pump shotgun. I have a Heckler & Koch USP and a Mossberg model 590 Military shotgun. The pistol is stock (no need to improve on perfection) and has competed in club level IDPA competition, but I have added some accesories to the 590. A sidesaddle that holds six slugs (the tube is full of 00 Buck), and a stretch cheek piece that holds five more rounds of 00 buckshot. I also added a heatshield. Mossberg said they couldnt put the heatshield on with the Ghostring/Ramp sights. I proved them wrong! I've also got an M-16 bayonett that clicks on the shotgun. The bayonett isn't really a defensive tool but it really looks cool at deer camp!
