I lived in Malta for a couple of years and except for the first photo, had never seen the others. I do hope that the site is treated properly. As a person involved with architectural conservation, this means to me that all still extant is preserved, some restoration undertaken and new elements integrated sensitively with the old IF the exterior is not entirely restored. The interior could be used as a major theatrefacility if needed or some other purpose related to the performing/visual arts. One might hope that the project would relate to the replacement of the unfortunate main City gate as well!

A modern art centre can solve these problems and create new venues and meeting places.

Your short account of events in Malta are good in principle and straight to the point. My objection are that I find your style of reporting in Maltese to be directed at downgrading others. The fact is that if you are going to expose weakness in the Maltes way of life or any individuals then by your own admission we are fifth class nation. Had a very good laugh while learning a few new things. On the most part I agree with your insight. It was refreshing to have a maltese who admits to maltese foilbils. You wouldn't know it if you heard some of my maltese relatives that visit. According to them malta is just fine and they need for nothing there. Than they try to buy out everything they see. If they could afford to buy out whole department store and take them back with them they would. Please make this a subject of your future writing.
