XLVII Con. Pat.
Annual Message to Congress (at close of
Second Session)
June 25, 2004
Om Bhuvaneshvaryai Namaha. Salutations to the Divine Mother, who
is the ruler of the universe. At the halfway point of the 47th
Congress, once again the time has come to deliver this traditional
session-ending message to the members of this House and to fellow
Patriens.
At the midpoint of the 47th Congress, there is still little in the way
of positive economic accomplishments. Dead-end jobs are the rule,
not the exception, for many of those who are fortunate enough to still
have a job that has not migrated to Mexico, China or India. The
battle against unskilled factory jobs being exported to Mexico or China
may be lost, but in this session Congress has begun to take action
against offshoring and outsourcing. Patria is committed to
bringing our jobs – particularly jobs in the IT and customer service
sectors – home from Bombay and Bangalore.
At this time last year, Patria, Canada and the world were gripped by
the fear of the deadly communicable disease SARS. A few months
ago, another potentially deadly species-jumping disease, avian or bird
flu, threatened to spread to Patria. But not one single case of
bird flu has been found in Patria, either in birds or humans.
In this session, Congress has taken a unique path in the war against
spam that will be far more effective than the U.S. Congress’ almost
unenforceable CAN SPAM act. Rather than prosecuting the spam
kingpins such as Alan Ralsky and Eddie Marin, or the ISPs with lax
enforcement of acceptable use policies, Patria has decided to go after
the real culprits in the flood of digital dreck: the IQ-challenged
mullet-headed morons who actually buy the penis-enlargement pills,
cut-rate Viagra, and other tawdry schlock pushed by the
spam-meisters. While sites such as Spamhaus do a good job of outing
the Ralskys and the ISPs that look the other way or even knowingly sell
bandwidth to spammers, this Congress is exposing the cretins who are
responsible for the continuing flood of spam. Spam filters and
spam-blocking software won’t stop them. The solution to putting
spammers out of business once and for all is quite simple – don’t send
them any money. A money trail can be traced and court orders can
be easily obtained to force spam merchants to turn over the names and
e-mail addresses of their customers. If you buy from a spammer,
beware – you might not go to jail but you will be exposed and held up
to social ridicule. Your name and photo will be broadcast on
national television, along with the drunk drivers, child abusers, sex
offenders, and the “johns” caught patronizing prostitutes. A
national “don’t buy from spammers” ad campaign has been launched.
Today, the message “Don’t buy from spammers” is becoming as common as
“don’t drink and drive”.
For the first time since the passing of Pierre Trudeau in 2000, Patria
paused to pay tribute to a foreign head of government, as earlier this
month, Congress proclaimed a public day of mourning and remembrance in
honor of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan. While Mr. Reagan’s
economic policies may be questioned, and it is debatable whether he
single-handedly “won” the Cold War, Patria retains a special fondness
for the legacy of the Reagan administration. Those years were a
journey from darkness to light: from the stagnation, failed policies
and failed hopes of the 41st Congress when Reagan was elected in 1980,
to the full self-sufficiency, stability, and true independence that
flourished when he left office eight years later in the 43rd Congress.
One year ago, Congress stood firmly against George W. Bush and Tony
Blair’s war against Iraq – a war in which too many young Americans and
young Britons are being used as cannon fodder, dying needlessly to prop
up Bush’s failed presidency and sate the bloodlust of the
neo-conservative war hawks. During this session, Patria’s resolve
against this war has grown stronger, particularly after the 3/11
tragedy in Spain, the ghastly beheading of Nicholas Berg, and the
disgusting atrocities committed by low ranking GI’s against the Abu
Ghraib prisoners. The rah-rah Bush-boosting neo-con war fanatics
– including a good number of National Union members of this Congress –
have even stooped so low to simply pooh-pooh these sickening abuses as
“a frat party that got a little out of hand” or “no worse than frosh
week at the University of Caesarea”.
In this session, as in the first session, we have made clear the
distinction between anti-Semitism and legitimate condemnation of Israel
and Zionism. Anti-Semitic acts, such as unprovoked attacks
against individual Jews or destruction of Jewish property, will not be
tolerated and those who perpetrate such cowardly acts will be
prosecuted to the full extent of the law. But here in Patria, it
is fair game to debate and to condemn where warranted the role the Jews
play in dictating America’s Israel-first foreign policy, in fomenting a
war against a country that has never seriously threatened America, and
in controlling the entertainment industry and the news media. We
are not unafraid to condemn Israel’s apartheid-like policy of Jewish
supremacy. Let Bush, or John Kerry for that matter, come to the
West Bank and – echoing Reagan’s challenge of almost two decades ago –
say “Mr. Sharon, tear down this wall!”
Also as in the first session, Congress has challenged the politically
correct thought police and stands firmly for free speech and open
debate even of unpopular or loathsome ideas. We once again resolve that
no one in Patria will ever be persecuted for thought crimes or
non-violent advocacy of unpopular or politically incorrect views.
This is in stark contrast to Canada, where a model immigrant, who has
never committed a crime, never gotten so much as a speeding ticket, has
been jailed for more than a year in solitary confinement awaiting
deportation because he has a few doubts about the veracity of the
Holocaust. Or where a well-respected high school teacher was
summarily fired not because of what he taught in the classroom but only
because of his politically incorrect after-school activities. In
just a few days, Canadians will vote in a federal election. It is
not this government’s role to endorse any foreign country’s parties or
candidates. But we urge all Canadians to think about the erosion
of free speech, the debasement of civil liberties, and the dilution of
Canada’s European Christian heritage under withering assault from
politically correct liberals (both the small- and large-L variety),
gays, lesbians, and multiculturalism/diversity-mongers before casting
their ballot on June 28.
Finally, let us note that the Honorable Member from Arboria and
SRM-Amrita house leader, Mata Amritanandamayi Devi is currently touring
the U.S. and next month will make her first visit ever to the
greater Toronto area. For all of Amma’s Canadian devotees,
and for Patria’s special relationship with Canada, this is a truly
special event at the midpoint of the 47th Congress.
At the halfway point of this administration, we give thanks to the
Divine Mother and ask Her protection in the two remaining years of the
47th Congress. As is traditional, this session is adjourned with
a brief prayer:
Asato ma sad gamaya
Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya
Mrityor ma amritam gamaya.
Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu.
Hari Om. Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.
[Lead us from untruth to truth. Lead us from darkness to
light. Lead us from death to immortality. May all beings in
the world be happy.]
