WELCOME TO THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF AMADOR
The People's Republic of Amador is a micronation established in 1996 by then Highschool student Eric S. Kildow and friends after reading about projects such as Talossa and Reunion on the internet and in their school paper. Since that time it has taken the form of a Model United Nations team, an intramural sports team, debating society, and many other incarnations. It has also experienced a number of advances and reverses over time. Now we have developed into a virtual sovereignity with aspirations of developing a national culture and a place in the micronational world. It should be noted that we are not a separatist movement but instead seek to form a community that does not rely on the accident of birth, but instead a choice to define ourselves as compatriots. We share a common view of the values of creativity and free expression. Our primary principle is what we refer to as "Creative Nationalism." The Amadoran project is one which seeks to balance the generation of independent creative communities under an aegis of unified ideas. Interested? We hope so. Feel free to look around, and possibly even join us. MICRONATIONS They've had many names and taken many forms, but they can be primarily identified by the element of choice that has been the cause of their growth and developement. One of the almost universal truths of micronationalism is that they almost invariably seek widespread recognition as a sovereign state but do not have this status. Their small size allows for greater decision making and discourse in its context, and as such the people continue to find the micronational hobby as an attractive alternative. |
